Foi efectuada uma acção de sensibilização relativamente a direitos e os participantes desenvolveram a sua compreensão sobre as igualdades e as desigualdades nas suas vidas.</div><div>Durante os meses de Junho e Julho de 2010, um grupo de 18 jovens, rapazes e raparigas, sendo eles iraquianos, palestinianos e sírios, trabalhou em conjunto a fim de explorar e documentar o seu ambiente quotidiano em Damasco.</div><div>Os jovens documentaram o mundo como o percepcionavam e o vivenciavam. Os jovens produziram portfolios pessoais de trabalhos a partir dos quais seleccionaram imagens para posteriormente serem mostradas no site da Refocus e numa exposição final.</div><div>Cada participante recebeu uma câmara digital disponibilizada através de um programa de patrocínio. As câmaras foram mantidas ao longo da duração do curso a fim de os participantes explorarem livremente o seu mundo através da lente. </div><div>Exposições dos seus trabalhos têm sido realizadas não só dentro da sua comunidade assim como em vários eventos internacionais.</div><div>Através de sua própria iniciativa e do apoio da Refocus e da UNICEF, os participantes continuam a desenvolver as suas competências fotográficas, submetendo o seu trabalho a concursos de fotografia e partilhando a sua experiência em conferências regionais sobre direitos da criança.</div><div>Refocus é uma ONG de carácter comunitário que realiza cursos de fotografia participativa com o fim de emancipar grupos desfavorecidos da população. </div><div>Para mais informações visite o nosso site <a href="http://www.refocusproject.org">www.refocusproject.org</a>.</div><div><br></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; ">::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::</div><div><br></div><div>MY CAMERA OUR FINGERPRINT</div><div><br></div><div>Why adolescents in Syria?</div><div>A key aim of the project, which was run by refocus in collaboration with UNICEF, was to advance issues of integration and social change through respect and the expression of rights through photography. </div><div>The workshops included discussions dealing with identity, to living without discrimination regardless of nationality or gender. Awareness was raised with regards to rights and participates developed an understanding about equalities and inequalities in their lives. </div><div>Throughout June and July 2010 a mixed-gender group of 18 young adults who are Iraqi, Palestinian and Syrian worked alongside each other to explore and document their environment in Damascus. </div><div>They documented the world as they perceived and experienced it, looking at both their achievements and the struggles they face. They produced individual portfolios of work from which they selected images to be shown on the refocus website and in a final exhibition. </div><div>Each participant received a digital camera, which had been provided through a sponsorship programme. They kept the camera for the duration of the course to freely explore their world though the lens. The course included several excursions across Syria where participants worked in teams, learning from each other whilst carrying out photo-projects. </div><div>Exhibitions of their work have been held within their community and are being held in various international venues. </div><div>Through their own initiative and the support of Refocus and UNICEF, participants are continuing to develop their photographic skills, submitting work to photography contests and are partaking in regional children’s rights conferences. </div><div>Refocus is a grass-roots NGO which runs participatory photography courses to emancipate disadvantaged groups of people. </div><div>Please visit our website <a href="http://www.refocusproject.org">www.refocusproject.org</a> for more information.</div><div><br></div><div><div style="margin-top: 0px;
